oh dear.
it's been a while since i've updated my blog... but forgive me, i've been busy.

lots has happened since our cruise to the Caribbean. which seems like it was light-years ago. and how did it get to be the middle of february?! oh my... where is time going? can you slow down?

kyle had an interview in chicago earlier this month and we're really excited about it. that's only two interviews so far, but we feel hopeful for each school. (the other one was in indy) chicago said that they'd let us know when they knew... probably around the end of this month or the beginning of next month. i hope it's sooner than later, we would love some good news!

max has been a busy boy...we're currently working on 4 new teeth. that will makes #9-12. holy wow. teeth make a baby boy look like a big boy. we've also been harnessing his creativity (it's never too early) we bought him some crayons and a poster board and let him go at it. it is adorable, if i do say so myself, and he loves it. he even gets everything out all by himself... now if we could just work on the putting our things away...

i, too, have also been busy. though now that i think about it, i can't really think of all that many things i've been doing. i just know i'm thoroughly exhausted and feeling quite broken. and no, i'm not going to elaborate (sorry) maybe at some point in the future i'll build up the gusto to talk about it in front of the whole world, but not now-- the only plus is that i've lost 15lbs. which is good and not good at the same time --. apart from feeling this way, i've also had an urge to create. i used to paint all the time and i loved it. it made me feel so good! maybe i'll take it up again. i've got mounds of paint, just need a canvas. trust me, days upon days of being bed ridden has given me lots to think about, and now i want to create.

well, i think that's mostly it for now. hopefully i'll have some good news for you in the future about dental school! cross your fingers for us!

Max ruined my candle

My adorable 1 year old son is amazing. He truly is. He can even climb onto the couch all by himself, climb onto my kitchen island from the couch, and then play in my FAVORITE B&BW candle (which was NOT cheap), and then ruin my good pen, and quite a few of my adorable mini ornaments. Not to mention the delicious ice water with lemon that I was drinking.

*sigh*

But how could you get mad at that adorable smile?? I ask you, how??

Oh my goodness! Where to start?? This adorable baby is Colton... he's about a month old and just the sweetest thing.. He belongs to my brother Chase and his wife Sammy! They were nice enough to let me take pictures of him... and I think that some of them turned out pretty cute. I'm still trying to figure out my camera so I'm glad that they had patience with me as we tried to get some good shots.. He's well past the newborn phase, but we still got some sleepy pics! Yay!!

Thanks again Chase and Sam, he's a doll!! I can't wait to see him again!!

Cameras, all kinds of cameras

Well, I guess I did it. I joined the cool crowd. I bought my self a fancy DSLR camera. Well, actually, I bought myself TWO.

Yes, you read right. I bought T.W.O. Nikon DSLR cameras.

Let me fill you in on the rest of the story...

I live in Lewiston. My sis-in-law Heidi lives in Lewiston. She owns a fancy camera, and takes fancy pictures, and makes money at it. I don't own a fancy camera, I can't take fancy pictures, and I don't make any money at it. I do however, have a looming Dental School Debt that *hopefully* begins next year. Scratch that -- with all the applications and the one interview we've done, it's already begun, and we're not even in school yet.
I do have an etsy shop - and I do make, I think, a pretty good amount of money at it. I also teach piano lessons and I'm pretty sure I do okay there too. But... being married to Kyle, I've learned over the last 2.5 years to pay attention to my finances. I know, I know. Don't ask why I never did it before, I didn't have a child, husband, or normal life bills to pay before I got married. And subsequently, it never crossed my mind. And while Kyle and I don't really spend money except for on what we need (he's better at it than me) we still are not as financially stable as either would like to be. (and we probably won't be until he's a dentist - but for now - at this point in our lives, we're not quite there.) so I needed a way to be able to make more money.

*light bulb*

HEIDI!!! She takes beautiful pictures and knows how to work a camera and figure out everything about that...and I live right next to her!! GENIUS. PLUS, she offered to help. Saint-like if you ask me because I'm not the easiest person in the world to work with. Anywho, she offered to help and I accepted. Only problem, I don't own a camera.

But I knew what I needed to get. so I bought a lens... Nikkor 50mm F1.8 and after doing all my research and listening to Heidi's advice I finally settled on a camera I THOUGHT would work for me. Enter *Ebay* - oh goodness. It's wondrous if you know how to use it and crappy if you don't. After losing about 3 cameras to other *Ebay* aficionados that actually knew how to use the site, I finally bought my Nikon D5000. Woo hoo!! So excited UNTIL the dumb thing actually arrived. It worked beautifully, but just not with my lens. Which apparently wasn't compatible with that type of camera. Awesome. I just spent all that crapping money on a camera and it doesn't even work with my lens. Apparently, I missed the little part about what lenses work with what cameras in all that research I did. INSERT FEELING LIKE AN IDIOT HERE. Thank goodness that I had bought the camera from a company and not a person that accepted returns. So I returned the crapping thing and had to set off to buy another one. Enter the Nikon d90. Heidi owns the d80 and the d7000 and the Nikon d90 is right in between the two so I figure that's a good one to buy. She will know how to work it. More importantly, it's compatible with the lens that I've already bought... and can't return.

Very long, boring, story short. I bought my Nikon d90, returned the Nikon d5000 and am now qualified to give a review on the d5000, being a previous owner and all.

I'm sure it's a wonderful camera, but I think it's dumb.

Let's hope the Nikon d90 works out better for me. Or I may just return it and never buy another camera. EVER.

Tonight I was particularly nostalgic as I cuddled my one year old son on the couch... two hours after bedtime, because I couldn't bear to put him to bed today. He was so cuddly and playful tonight, so I let him stay up and we just laid on the floor and played. I can't believe it's been a year since he was born. It makes me want to cry to think about how fast time is going by...oh, I'm turning into my mother. I thought I would share with you some of the best moments of today, a year ago. It was the scariest, hardest, most painful, intimidating thing I have ever done in my short little life, and it was the most beautiful moment as well.

Neil L. Anderson, of the quorumn of the Twelve Apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints said "We hold in our arms the rising generation. They come to this earth with important responsibilities and great spiritual capacities." It has been my divine right this last year to hold such a child in my arms, to feel - on a daily basis - the love of my Heavenly Father, and the peaceful, happy Spirit that He can bring into our homes. I feel so blessed.

So this is where I was a year ago. I was fortunate enough to have my sister-in-law (a photographer) there to capture this beautiful time in my life. Here are some of the pictures she took.

What do you get when you put two women together, give them 24 water bottles, a box of food coloring, and it's 2 in the morning?

This. You get this.

24 water bottles with various shades of every color we could think of. Minus Black. Because we couldn't for the life of us figure out how to make it. Every time we put all the colors together, it made brown. Then we took a black sharpie apart and put the ink in one of the bottles, but it just turned purple. Then I decided to fill some mason jars with colored water and put it on my window sill in my kitchen.

Why? I don't know. It was 2 a.m.

But holy cow, we had a blast.

The Nicest Thing

People say the nicest things sometimes. I got to do a musical number in my ward two Sundays ago and it was wonderful! I love playing the piano so it was nice to be able to. I played "I Need Thee Every Hour". People told me they thought it was pretty, which is pretty typical in the church, and that was that. It was nothing special and I didn't think it made a particularly big impact on anybody.

I thought that until yesterday in church, an older man, who I've never spoken to, and rarely seen handed me the back of a notebook on which he had written me a poem. It was the sweetest thing, and it made me cry. There's just something to knowing that something you did brought about the Spirit. Oh, how I love this church.

I know, I know. I'm posting this a day early, but that's because it's already been done and worn out in public. This weeks Weekly Wednesday Craft was all about clothing!!

My first project was a skirt. I took a page out of this girls book...

And made myself this...

Seriously, little miss Leanne over there at Elle Apparel makes some B-E-A-U-TIFUL things!! I want to make everything she makes. I hope I get around to it eventually.

My second project was for my babe. He needed an outfit to wear on Sunday, and because I woke up at 5am for no reason Sunday morning, I thought "why not". So I made him an adorable little vest and matching tie. It. Was. Awesome.

BONUS: they're reversible!!

This poor guy is sick.

He's got an intestinal virus
( which I took to mean the "flu" basically)
and a double ear infection.

If anybody has kids I'm pretty sure that you know how heartbreaking it is to watch your little one cry and cry and run fevers, and have cold sweats and throw up. It's awful!! His fever hasn't come below 99 degrees for TWO days now. It basically lingers around the 101 mark.

Good for me, I have two darling friends. Kim and Greg came over last night to see how we were doing. Mostly for Max, but I've been without a husband and week and will be until Saturday. Anyways, they came over to check on us and to remind me of a pretty important principle I hadn't forgot, but wasn't focusing on it like I should.

Kim: "How've you been today?"

Me: "Fine, but I haven't done anything productive today."

Kim: "Yes you have, you were a mother today."

I know it sounds like a silly little conversation, but believe you me. Instead of worrying about if the dishes get done, or the laundry gets folded, I'm going to sit here, in my pjs, and cuddle my little baby. We're going to watch movies and it's going to be divine. Except it would be better if his fever would break. Poor thing.

I'm glad I have the power of prayer in my life today, and I'm glad Kim is so in tune with the things I need to hear. But, then again, it's probably because she loves him too.

New August Resolution

Alright, so I've been reading all of those lovely crafty blogs that I follow, and am inspired. I can't believe it's been this long since I've made anything and I'm a little sad about it. So I've come up with a New August Resolution!

1.) Take Maxi outside to a park or something every week. And I didn't want "outside" to include where I live...like an actual park, or the aquatic center or something.

2.) Make something new every week an then blog about it.

3.) Try to refrain from sweets, pop, or anything that is going to keep me from looking how I want to.

So I guess we'll see how August goes and then we'll see what my goals are for September!!

Sun Valley - but not the Heppler Reunion

I took a very impromptu trip to Sun Valley this last week. My parents stayed a week longer than they thought they were going to so on Monday morning, at 8 a.m., I decided to leave for Sun Valley at 11 a.m. It was a wonderful trip and I was able to spend alot of great one-on-one time with both my parents and my mom's parents.

I know that I'm going to be in Sun Valley in a week and a half for a family reunion, but there was just something so refreshing about being there without all the noise and activities that just felt awesome. I completely miss Sun Valley, spending summers there. I hope that I can give my kids those memories just like my parents were so vigilant about taking us there.

I love Sun Valley. I miss it.

We've been so busy lately and mostly without an internet connection, so sorry for the lack of updating!!

We had the Hobson reunion! It was a blast!
I loved seeing everybody and was sad to say

Laundry is not fun. Especially when you have a broken laundry basket. So I've been on the hunt for a new one. And there are TONS out there. But I didn't want to pay what they were asking. Especially because I know I can fix something to make it just as cute if not cuter than what I could buy.

So.... I found this little beauty at my local thrift store for a whopping $5.20.
A can of spray paint and left over fabric later,
I've got this.

It matches (or will match) our master bedroom perfectly.
Plus, it was a fraction of the cost I would have paid
had I not waited 3 months to find something that I could fix myself.

I love being thrifty.

Holy Crap. I have SO much felt, it's not even funny. And it's just sitting there because I really only use like 2 colors for my store and I have every color that felt comes in.

So...the question came up... what do I do with all of that??

Answer... make a rug.
Because another project is what I need right now.
(seriously, I can never have enough)

So I googled felt rugs to see if they were even something that existed, and to my delight!
They do!!! And, they're durable!!

Pendant Light Tutorial

Hello all!!!
I've been looking for a while for something that I can hand over my bed,
unfortunately, my budget limits me to about...nothing to spend.
Fortunately, I'm a little bit crafty and decided to try to make
something out of things I already had.

I saw a bunch of tutorials all over the internet about these little lights,
so I thought, why not make one???

I had balloons, modge podge, and plastic gloves.
Unfortunately, no hemp cord, but that's ok
because it's cheap cheap cheap at walmart.

But be warned my friends,
this get's MESSY.
I'm not kidding.
It's messy.

So here's my tutorial.

You Need:

You also need:
a cord that has an plug for the wall
and a place to screw in a light bulb on that cord
***get a light bulb too***
(I don't know the technical term)
but I got mine at Home Depot
they call it "Westinghouse 6ft Cord Set"
it was $5.00
Ikea sells one too, it's not called the same thing,
but there's is only $4.oo

note: if you want this to be a perfectly round pendant,
don't use a balloon.
Get a ball from walmart or something and use that.
Just know that you eventually have to pop it and get it
out without ruining your pendant.
A balloon will probably make your pendant look more like
a beehive than a circle.
But that doesn't bug me.
get it? "bug" ha.

Step 1:
Make sure that you leave an opening at the top of your pendant
for you to be able to fit a cord and more importantly a light bulb through.
Otherwise, your pendant is useless.

Step 2

Unfortunately, there's a couple steps in here
that I missed with my camera because it died.
But, this is what you need to do.

Step 3:
Pop the balloon or ball and remove from shape.
If you used a plastic ball, it's probably easiest
to reach your hand in with scissors and cut the ball
into more manageable pieces that you can pull out
so that you don't ruin the pendant.

Step 4:
Take your light cord thingy and some left over hemp cord
and attach the light cord with your hemp cord to the
light pendant.
confusing???? maybe.
But I'm not really sure how else to word it.
You're smart. You'll figure it out.

Step 5:

I haven't hung it up in our bedroom yet because I need to get an
extension cord so that I can run it from the ceiling to an outlet,
but,
i love it.
I think it will be SO cute!!
Plus, it gives off this really awesome ambient light.

I hope this tutorial makes sense. Never really written one like this. But if it doesn't make sense to you, you can find a lot of others all over the internet that make the same thing and follow one of theirs.

Paint Choices

The hubs and I walked to Home Depot last night and picked out some paint colors!! I am so excited about them!!

Apart from the wall, we're redoing these two beauties...

this beautiful little desk
(which I've already redone once)
is getting a total makeover!
It's turning yellow!
And I'm building some shelving built in the open spaces
It'll look so good!!
I wish I could find a dresser I could refinish instead,
but I can't seem to find one..
grr..

and yes, the most controversial thing that I am refinishing,
my piano.
let's face it people,
I'm not a wood purist,
and a lime green piano would be so cute in my house,
and it's happening.

Apart from those projects, which are my biggest. I've also got a thrifted mirror I need to paint, and a thrifted laundry basket that's going to be adorable! Plus, 3 poufs and 2 bags.

Fun in the Sun

Well, goodness. We've just been having a blast here in good ole' phoenix. The sun is shining, it's warm, I'm getting a tan, Max is getting teeth and is now and expert crawler. Seriously, I've never seen the boy move so fast. He sits up on his own and can pull himself to a standing position on just about everything. I feel like he's growing up so fast, so I thought I'd share with you some of Max's activities while we've been here (and some of mine...)

but I think most of the people there paid more attention

to max than the game. I think I held him for all of 4 seconds

before women (I didn't know - but my moms friends)

Sadly, the only person hurt was Kyle, who got punched in the face.

Pouf The Magic Moneymaker

Well... remember when I said that I was going to be published in a magazine??? Well, this isn't that magazine, but I got an email today from THIS website... They featured me on their blog....... and they turn the blog into a magazine...

Which means.... (drum roll please)

I am going to be a published provider of all things pouf-y in their next issue!!

How exciting?!? I don't know how I will keep up with the demand though (if such a demand turns out)... Since it went on the blog on Friday my views for my pouf went from 276 views to 855 views. I have received multiple emails or orders and multiple emails for people inquiring about my product. I can't believe how lucrative this little hobby has turned out to be!! I am so excited about it!!

It just goes to show you that a little patience from the hubs and ALOT of hot glue pays off in the end!!

Now, I'm probably gonna to need an employee. Fo' realz. I'm going to be in trouble.

okay.... okay... I know. lots of ruffles lately, but they're just so cute.

I found a new thing, repurposing t-shirts!! Making those plain-jane things just plain cute!! I'm having so much fun learning how to do new things and creating new things to make! This is the third t-shirt that I've remade! And I love it!!!

I added the ruffle around the neck line,
the four ruffle...thingys... hanging down below,
and the little rosette.
I was going to add more rosettes,
but I didn't.
Maybe I'll go back later and add them.

I wanted a new shirt for my birthday.
But I didn't want to buy it.
So I made myself one.

So here... follow these steps...
and the descriptions aren't awesome, but they work.

I had no descriptions so you're already better off than I was.

See?? Fast, easy, and so cute!! The t-shirt I cut up was a knit fabric, so I didn't have to worry about the edges fraying because knit doesn't fray! awesome!!!

I'm not even sure those directions made sense, but there you have it.
And sorry for the faceless "myspace" pic. It's hard to model your creations when the only person home is a 7 month old who doesn't understand "no, max. don't chew on the camera."

Ok. So. I've recently found this cute little idea in my head. I think it would be AWESOME to paint my piano!!! Talk about adding some character into a home, this is it!!

Now, I realize, that this idea isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's mine. So let's be friendly about this.

And don't worry... I'm not going to do something ugly like this one...

But look!! Look at how adorable these are!! I know I'm a green girl but these turquoise pianos are hitting the right note!! (pun intended - aren't I clever)

And yet, I still can't completely disregard my signature color. Whoever did this piano, had it right.

I'm not saying that I am going to do it .....husband..... but I would love to. Really.

So.. I have crafting ADD. It's hard to start a project and then finish it, because usually, in the middle of my project, I think of something else awesome to try and then I get excited about that and stop making what i'm making.

So... I've added some new items to my shop, because I'm bored with poufs.

They're duffle bags. and I LOVE them!! Really! I'm tempted to keep them all to myself!!!!

Even Max loves them. He's such a good boy.

I've only made three so far, and only have pictures of two of them completed... but I've got the fabric cut out for about 8 more. It's all just sitting there waiting for me to find the time to sew them. Which, really isn't that bad. It takes me about 3 hours from start to finish! Not that difficult!!

I like them, and let me tell you.. I WILL be traveling in style this weekend.

i woke up.

then we got married

NEW BATHROOMS!!!!!!!

the large bathroom has new floors, new shower curtain WITH a liner,
new rugs, new towels, new accessories...

it looks beautiful, i think.
I love it.

Small bathroom has NO DUCK WALLPAPER,
and if you can believe it, LIME GREEN walls.
** the lime green is VERY faint, and looks cream in the pictures, but it's green **
(I have officially infiltrated at least one room in this house)

They both look great. Much better than the originals.

I've been a busy girl.

Which I feel like is a blessing! Kyle and I have been trying to figure out a way to make some extra money and my solution was to open an Etsy shop. Now I know I posted that a couple months ago. Probably back in October, when I opened it. And things have been S.L.O.W. in my shop, until a couple weeks ago. When some photography challeneged me to make something, and I did.

I then thought this would be a great thing to market and make... I'm the only person on etsy making anything like this, so as you can imagine... business picked up!! Which is WONDERFUL!!! I am loving the opportunity to create, and we are all enjoying the lighter pull on our wallets. I've had the oppotunity to work with some really creative people who are just fueling all of my ideas... one of which is some hot-shot (i guess) who is going to feature my item in a MAGAZINE!!!!! Can you believe it??!! I am SO excited I can hardly stand it...

My next pouf is going to have these little roses all over it - darling for spring!!

Apart from working for my shop, I've taken some time to do some home improvement things.... As you can imagine, our apartment is quite small, so having a big over sized coffee table - not practical. So I've been looking for a new ottoman, one with some storage hopefully so I can hide Max's/Rambo's toys in there. And I found this one...

On clearance because it was scuffed and had holes, but no bother... I'm crafty!!

so I recovered it!!

Much more fitting for my home I think!!

I love it!

And as always, I am a mother and wife first.
So while I'm having fun creating, I'm also remembering to spend time
with my family.

I must admit, I've been very terrible at blogging this year. IN MY DEFENSE I have been very busy... Kyle and I have spent alot of time not at home recently. We spent 2 1/2 weeks in Mesa with my family, and then a week and a half in Boise with his family... Not to mention the two babies that we have now... Max, our adorable 3 month old who seems to outgrow his clothes faster than I can put them on him, and Rambo, who seems to get more needy every day that Max is around.

Needless to say, that it is an adventure here everyday. What with me trying to take care of an infant, a puppy, a house, a husband, and myself...while trying to be creative every so often, I find myself with little to no time to blog. So this is quite an achievement for me. (It's only working out right now because Max has passed out in the middle of the hallway on his bouncy chair, Rambo is locked in the bathroom due to a potty accident earlier and husband is at school). Either way, I do have a lot to catch up on. But I'm just going to post a bunch of pictures and you can fill in the blanks.

Well, we've made it. It's January 2011!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
I feel like this last year has just flown by. So much has happened and I feel truly blessed to have had such a good year. My husband and baby boy are the best things that ever happened to me! It was such a good year!!! But now it's this year. And I am excited for this year, I've set some pretty awesome goals for myself and am excited to see what happens!
I've never been very good at keeping my NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS but I'm ready to make that change.

So, my FIRST resolution, is to KEEP MY RESOLUTIONS!!

The rest gets to stay between Kyle and I, but I hope that by setting new goals for myself and my family that I can grow in love, faith, patience, and charity. I can always use help.

But I have a feeling that this year will be great and that I'm going to learn alot!!

Alright. So. It's been two and a half weeks since my baby boy Max was born and I figure that now is as good a time as any to fill you all in on how it happened...

My due date was Oct. 5th, and any of you that actually read this blog would know that Oct. 5th came and went, and there was no baby. So after a considerable amount of whining to me OB about how miserable I was and how sick I still was, etc...she agreed to induce me. But she wanted to wait until the 13th... which was like FOREVER away. (Believe me, I tried to get her to induce me on the 10th... but she said no.) Anyways, I was hoping that he would come early, but we all know that didn't happen, and I was EXCITED about getting induced. I know people have lots of horror stories about how hard it makes labor, but I figured that labor was already hard and I wouldn't know the difference if I had a particularly nasty labor. So getting induced didn't bug me. I just wanted the baby out!! Luckily for me though, I didn't have to be induced. Around 5pm on the 12th I started getting what I thought were stomach aches, but when I timed them, they were about 4-5min apart... not quite enough for me to go in, plus they weren't that bad. But around 10pm, they moved to 3 min apart...and at 1am.. they were 2 min apart and I was WRITHING in pain!! So I woke up the hubby and we went to the hospital. Which is pretty funny to me because I was supposed to be there at 6am anyways to get induced. Anywho, we went to the hospital... contractions pretty much stayed at two min apart but oh..my..gosh.. did they ever hurt!!! It was miserable!!! I was miserable! So miserable, in fact, that I could not stop throwing up. Which, I'm sure was such a joy for my husband, mother, and sis-in-law to watch. But seriously, at that point, I didn't care who saw me, or what they saw me doing, like I said, I was miserable and modesty was a thing of the past. At 4am they gave me my epidural, and when I sat up to get that done, my water broke. Which is nice, better to have it break naturally then have them have to break it for me.

I know some women (my mother included) are brave enough to go through labor without any drugs, and I respect them and think they're a teensy bit crazy at the same time, I wanted the drugs! And they were miracle drugs! My epidural was PERFECT!! After I got it, I didn't feel anything!! I was still woosy, and throwing up, but at least I wasn't in pain.. Which was nice when 8:02am came around and the nurses told me to start pushing. And I didn't push for that long, Max was born at 8:47am.. and would have been here sooner but the nurses made me "hold him in" for about 10 minutes while we waited for the OB to get there... which, had I not been drugged, would NOT have happened.

All in all, it was wonderful. Honestly. Not at all like the horror stories I hear about. It was such a beautiful and deeply moving spiritual moment in my life and in Kyle's life. It was honestly the best day of my life. And the best thing to happen to Kyle and I.

Fun Facts about Hailey's labor:

1. I had a birth photographer there - she took pictures of the labor and the birth.
Now before some people freak out about how potentially gross that would be, don't judge me. My sis-in-law, Heidi Simmons, is a wonderful photographer and she agreed to be there to take pictures. I don't regret it at all. She got some beautiful shots. She captured Max's first breath, the first time Kyle held him, or the first time I held him. She captured Kyle and I completely overwhelmed in the beauty of the day and they are beautiful photographs. I'm so lucky she was willing to do it and so glad that I let her. I'm hoping I live by her for my next one so she can do it again.

2. I lied to my OB - not recommended.
I was so concerned with making sure that I couldn't feel any pain, that when my OB asked me (while I was pushing) if I could feel the contractions (which I couldn't because of the epidural), I lied and said that I could so that she wouldn't take my drugs away from me. Don't judge.

3. I got about 15 stitches - ouch.
Which makes me feel better about having such a good epidural.

Well, there you have it. Sorry if it's not detailed enough or whatever but that's how it happened.
It was a great day.
And look at the beautiful baby I have to show for it ♥

Kyle's parents were able to come up this last week for a couple of days to see Max.
And I'll admit, it was nice having someone there so that I could sleep, eat, shower, etc.
i'm glad they came!!!!

i LOVE this kid.
He got circumcised yesterday and everyone thought that he would cry
(he has yet to really cry - he's such a good baby)
and guess what?
he still doesn't cry.
Granted, he did cry when they did it initially,
but not at home.
No crying, no whimpering, no nothing.
He just lays there with his big eyes open and stares at us.

How did Kyle and I get such an easy baby???

p.s. since i've got about an inch of grow out in my hair
(trust me, really blonde highlights with really dark roots -not attractive)
I've decided that I'm going to get my hair done.
and soon.
I'm particularly excited because i'm putting PINK in it.
that's right.
and I don't care what anyone says.
(except for Kyle and Max, but Max doesn't talk and Kyle just says "whatever")

Okay, this is NOT going to be the update that some people are looking for, but I have been getting some requests for some updates pictures. So I thought I would just include some pictures. Forgive me if it's not that detailed, I am just so tired, so sore, and in all honesty, blogging is on the VERY bottom of my list right now. With that said, here are some pictures that I thought you may enjoy....

This is my Grandpa Max, the inspiration for my baby's name. He came down from Seattle to see his great-grandson. It was SO wonderful for him to come!!! It really was a touching experience to see them together.

My mom came and stayed with us for 10 days.. (alot longer than anticipated, but still not long enough for me) and she brought her two dogs with her. Needless to say, our apartment was ANYTHING but boring during those ten days...

My little boy is SO alert!! Here he is with his big blue eyes open... oh goodness, he's so perfect. I've definitely been spoiled with a perfect baby. So handsome ♥

Ignore how hideous I look...and appreciate the fact that Rambo, myself and Max frequently cuddle together.. I love it.

This is my momma... I can't even tell you how WONDERFUL it was having her here!! Oh I love her so!

Max and Rambo. Some people may have an issue with dogs and babies together, but that's just too bad, They are adorable together and Rambo is such a protector of Max and me. I must admit I love it. And it's cute to watch them together.

And one of our only family pictures!! Here we are all together... I know I don't look so awesome in this picture, in fact, I look quite exhausted... but it's okay. Because it was only like 45 min after giving birth and I was REALLY tired.

Despite the fact that I'm not getting really any sleep, I'm sore pretty much everywhere, can't sit, stand, or walk for a long time, and have a super squishy stomach. This has been the best week ever. I love my son so much and my love for my husband has exponentially increased watching them together. Kyle is more than wonderful with Max. I knew he was going to be a wonderful father, but he has gone above and beyond all of my expectations, and they were high.
So I know this isn't the best update, but it's all I can do right now... my baby boy is sleeping so that means that I'm headed to bed. I'll send some more info out into cyberspace sometime soon.

I am SOOOO very, very, VERY, VERY excited for tomorrow!!!

I am having a baby! For sure!!

I'm getting induced at 6am... which means that there is a definite end in sight and I could not be more ready for this little guy to get here! It makes it so much easier for me to breathe knowing that it's almost over!! I know labor's not easy but I'm pretty much willing to do whatever I need to for this guy to be born. I'm pretty sure that's why women are pregnant this long...

So sleep tight blogging world...my next post *hopefully* will have a picture of my new son!!

Well...no baby yet today, but the day's not over.
But in all honesty, I'm pretty sure he's not coming today.

Apart from being TOTALLY miserable and swollen,
I'm not feeling anything...
meaning contractions.
But there is some serious lower back pain that's been
thrown into the mix
and a total increase of pain everywhere else.
Which means, i think, that he's definitely lower than he's been..
he's just not coming out.

But I'll keep you posted.

Oh hello!!

Oh hello friday morning and NO baby.
I actually am thinking it's quite comical now that I haven't had him yet. Although that could be because I'm starting to go crazy so everything is funny. Like right now, my dog is chasing a fly through our apartment. But that would've been funny even if I wasn't crazy.

So I guess that means that everyone who guessed, BESIDES Jade and Julie, were wrong. Including myself and Kyle. So yay Jade and Julie...and you both guessed Sunday which is 10-10-10. So let's hope for that now shall we?

Either way it doesn't matter because at my appt yesterday she said she'd induce me on Wednesday if he hasn't come by then. So either way, in less than a week. He's OUT. And I can try to get back to being not crazy. (But I'm not making any promises)

On a different subject, (that's still the same)... my mom is coming TODAY!!! YAY!!! I am so excited to see her and do girly things with her!! Especially before this little guy comes.

NOTE: I would NOT be upset if he came and ruined our girly outings. (I originally said "I would NOT be upset if he came and ruined our girly things"...but then I realized that it could be interpreted to mean something besides what I meant it to mean. See... crazy.)

Oh sweet misery...

...that's actually NOT so sweet. Yes. Two days late. Which I realize is probably not that big of a deal to those women who have gone two weeks overdue, but I haven't. I've never been pregnant, never missed a due date, so this is pretty traumatic for me. And no matter what ANYONE says to me, it SUCKS.

The only comfort I'm getting is the fact that I'm going to be induced next Wednesday if he doesn't come before that. The crappy thing about that is, my momma will be gone and I will be home by myself...yes... I have family and friends here that I know can and will help if I need it, but they're not my mom. And I need my mom.

On the plus side, I have an unmeasurable amount of respect for women who have more than one child. I don't know how you do it. Whew.

Granted, 10-10-10, would be pretty AWESOME, but I don't know that I can hold on that long. PLUS, I'm pretty sure he won't stay in that long. But who knows, nobody knows. Well, somebody knows, but He's not telling me.

I am SO ready for him to get here!! Please, please, PLEASE!!! Those nine months went really fast, but these last two weeks... I'm pretty sure time has stopped all together. And what's even more pathetic is that I've been home all day, every day this week and my house wouldn't show it. Which makes me feel a little guilty, but at the same time, I'm nine months pregnant so maybe that's a good excuse to not deep clean my house everyday, but still. Actually, now that I'm talking about it. I should go clean my house. Ok.

Well, things have been kind of crazy around here lately, and I figure it's probably not going to get better or easier for me to update this thing...at least not right away, so I thought I'd let you in on some insight to what we've been up to. And I'm warning you, you can stop reading now, because this is a LONG post. Like I said, we've (especially me) have been very busy.

So, first. We took a trip in early Aug. to say goodbye to Cole! He left for his mission in the Dominican Republic and I miss him terribly. It's really hard to not text or call him, etc. Especially when I'm used to doing that every day, multiple times a day. But it's ok, because he's out there doing the right thing. Which makes me happier than not having him here makes me sad. Does that make any sense? Anyways, it was a lovely opportunity to see all the people that we don't get to see all the time!!! I loved it!!

And no, the cute little black thing, not our dog. My parents got a new one.
I'm pretty sure it's to replace Cole while he's gone.
Her name is Sophie. They LOVE her.
which is the understatement of the century

Now, onto not so happy things. I know that alot of you have probably heard about this, but not seen anything about it. Which would make sense because we're the only ones that have pictures of it and I haven't put any up. But here you go. On Sept. 13 Kyle and I were woken up at 4:15ish a.m. to screaming, banging, hysterical people, etc. This is the lovely image we saw:

And yes. That is OUR apartment building. Not the one next to us, or across from us. That is OURS. Awesome. Luckily it didn't do any damage to our apartment, the firefighters put it out before it got to us, which was lucky as we don't have renters insurance. (Now we do, but we didn't then.) Other people, were not so lucky. The tenant on the top floor apartment was killed in the fire, but everyone else got out alive. Although, two families had to be relocated to other apartments as theirs were obviously ruined and another apartment was vacant so that was lucky. But anyways, here's the aftermath...

here was the siding got melted off because of the heat coming from the fire.
it was a big fire.

Kyle also got interviewed for our local news station about it.
Not exactly how you want your 15 min of "fame" spent, but oh well.
We are very blessed.

And moving on, once again!! But this time back to HAPPY THINGS!!! I've been crafting my eyes out and I have a boat load of unfinished projects to prove it!! I wish i had pictures of all of them to share, but neither you or I have time to look at all them. Trust me, it's alot. One that I do have pictures of is my PUFF QUILT!! Which I absolutely ADORE!!!!!! It was tedious and still isn't one hundred percent complete (I have to finish hand stitching the binding) but I love it and it works for now.

Other various projects have included redoing my bedroom. I know I posted earlier about a fabric I wanted to user, but after looking at it for an extended period of time, it really just didn't fit me. So I went brighter. I rearranged furniture, made pillows and this is the result. I love it, I'm pretty sure Kyle does (that's what he says) and it's okay if you don't. Because you don't live here.

And last but not least, our little baby boys nursery. I FINALLY finished it. Lots of late nights, hard work, and just....well. Lots of work. But I like it and it works for me, and it's pretty much all lime green which I must admit I kind of love about it!!!

We are so ready for this little guy to get here!!!!
I can't wait to meet him and start that page in our lives!
Don't get me wrong, I'm terrified in all the right ways,
but I know Kyle will be an AWESOME father,
which must mean that I won't be that bad of a mom.

But until that little guy decides to get here,
This little guy will keep us occupied.

Our life really is wonderful.
We really are so blessed.

i am SO very blessed to be able to live so close to family
in all honesty, i am really TRULY starting to love it here in lewiston
(shhh... don't tell kyle)
one of the many perks of living by family here in lewiston is
Heidi
She's wonderfully talented.
and she takes wonderful pictures.
so yes. i am very blessed.
it's quite a feat to make someone who feels VERY un-beautiful
(like maybe me who just feels fat, bloated, and like i may have a slight case of elephantitis)
and take a picture that makes me feel beautiful.

i just really appreciate her right now when i'm feeling so gross.

on our last trip to phoenix, we had our friend Trevor get some pictures of our family and he happened to do a wonderful job. obviously, i love more than these two pictures, but these two are wonderful. i love the belly snapshot and i absolutely adore the family picture

Summer Vacation

We {not so recently} took a trip this summer.
We spent almost a week in Sun Valley, Idaho with my family...
and then spent almost a week in Boise, Idaho with Kyle's family.

It was REALLY nice to be able to get together with both families!
It was probably the last time that my family will all be together
without children of our own. So it was nice to be able to sit
down and talk to everybody and just have fun! Sun Valley is always
a relaxing place I hope that Kyle and I get to spend many more weeks
there relaxing!

Then there was Boise, and apart from the monstrous swelling
{which only I experienced}
it was SO fun! Travis (Kyle's Bro) was in charge of the reunion
and he did a "minute to win it" theme! It was pretty cool if you ask me!
Pretty memorable too, seeing mom do "junk-in-the-trunk"
I'm smiling now just thinking about it.

But these are the few measly pictures that my camera managed to grab,
granted, the majority are from Sun Valley, but my little camera
has a hard time competing with the 8 professional ones that
all the Hobson children have...so I'll have to wait until I get those pictures
to fill you in...

I've been terrible at updating my blog. {not like i need to tell any of you that}
and i'm not going to promise to be better, because we all know i probably won't.
this post is just to point out that i know i'm bad, and maybe i'll get better at keeping people posted on my life.

in other news... I am officially in the 30's {pregnant}.
where has the time gone?
i felt like i just got pregnant
which makes me a little nervous because time is R U N N I N G - O U T!!

And I really do have like a million things that I still need to do, like finish the bumper pads, {which may take the rest of my life}and set up the room, finish my quilt, clean - i feel like i need to clean E V E R Y T H I N G. Annoying.
Ok, so maybe it doesn't seem like a lot, but it feels like alot. Especially when I'm Sicky McSickerson. Which I have been lately. And those bumper pads and the rest of the bedding is going to take a long time. So is the quilt.

Apart from baby things, and me, KYLE's LAST DAY OF HIS INTERNSHIP is TODAY!!!!! And we are so excited!!! Him probably more than me, but I am excited to have him home more. It's been weird coming home and not having him here. I'm ready for him to be here. But we are both glad that he did this internship, it was a good learning experience for him, and it will look good on an application for dental school. So, I'm hoping it helps.

Other than that, things have been pretty laid back here. Our lives lately consist of mostly, work, dinner, a favorite TV show or two and bed. We should really try to be more spontaneous and/or exciting. IDEAS?? I'm thinking that once this baby comes, our lives will become a lot more exciting/hectic and/or just change completely. So some last minute spontaneity before this baby comes is much needed i think. This is crazy.

Can you beleive that in 10 weeks {give or take} Kyle and I will be PARENTS?? Holy responsibility!!!! But we're excited! Really. We are.

Now, we just need to find a name... or start talking about it....

Let's have a repeat shall we??

I love my ma.
And she recently made a very special (and rather inconvenient) trip to
LEWISTON, ID
to see me, and my tummy!

it was so wonderful.
we ate, shopped, laughed, ate,
shopped, laughed REALLY hard,
went to every fabric store in Spokane,
figured out my nursery, went to a craft fair,
ate at the Davenport,
bought all the fabric that I or anyone else will ever need,
(but my nursery WILL be the best)
and stayed up until the wee hours of the morning talking.

it was exactly the weekend I needed.
and my mom is the B E S T

A new do for the dog!

So this time we were a little more successful with the dog this time (thanks to Chad already showing us how to cut his face). Enjoy the pictures and it only took an hour and a half this time. That includes the time to give him a bath. Next on the list is to clip his nails!

Even though it is very little that he gets, he LOVES Cheetos! He must be pregnant too (that is impossible) because Hailey craves Cheetos ALL the time. In a week and a half she probably has eaten the equivalent of 3 or 4 FAMILY size bags of Cheetos. Speaking of craving things....You know that your wife sends you to the store too many times when the checker at the register asks how your pregnant wife is feeling today!

We love his bushy tail and his long ears!It seams as no matter how short we cut his hair he always has an "al-falfa" hair on top of his head.

This is what both of us see when we sit on our lovely recliner (thanks mom again!!!) eating a quick snack! Then he starts to bark. It can get really annoying sometimes, but at least he knows that he isn't allowed on my lap.

Thanks to my Supremely talented sister-in-law... Kyle and I got to take some pictures in Feb. of this year before I started to get fat, and I think that alot of them turned out quite great!! Take a looksie and tell me what you think!!!

So since we have had Rambo, the potty training is coming slowly but it coming and it is close to complete. However, some of you may have heard that we have trained him to ring a bell when he needs or wants to go outside. It has been tedious at times but I think it was successful!!! I caught a video of him today ringing his bell wanting to go outside! You can look and see for yourself. I love it when he rings the bell, then he sits and then turns around looking at me expecting me to do something! Look and enjoy.
